Abstract

Study Summary: The Malayalee tribal people living in Javvadu Hills have cultural elements of ancient Mandarin. These people are Illurai deities and Kanurai deities. Nirurai deities, nature worship, Nadukal worship, ancestor worship, clan deity worship are performed in various forms of worship. Prominent among them is the worship of the Mother Goddess. Dog worship is one of the oldest forms of worship in the world. From the seals found there, it is possible to know that the worship of the Mother Goddess was prominent even during the time of the Indus Valley Civilization in India. People have been worshiping Mother Goddess since before the Vedic period. Female goddesses were associated with male gods in Puranic epic times. As a result, the worship of goddess came to be known as Shakti worship and the worshipers were called Shakti. In this way, it can be seen that Kali is worshiped as the deity and family deity of most of the tribal people living in Javwadumalai. It is also known that the tribal people have been carrying out the worship of Mother Goddess since the early times. The worship of the deity is referred to by the people here as Uchipachai. Following the family deity, other deities are also worshiped and special worship is performed. Worships are performed in the form of putting Pongal, cutting Kita and making Pori Kadala.
