Abstract

The Sangam-era texts, namely the PattuPattu & Ettuthogai, which provide insights into the life and culture of the people in ancient times, particularly concerning trade, agriculture, and industries, and the nature of the tools they used, contain valuable Tamil evidence.  These texts have effectively presented many rare insights into the occupations and social life of the ancient Tamils.  They emphasized that wealth is necessary for a prosperous life and that industries must flourish for wealth to increase. The people of the Sangam period were resolute in their economic pursuits, industrial endeavors , and wealth creation, and were self-confident in leading a good life.
