Abstract

The contribution of women poets who emerged in the post-nineties landscape of modern Tamil poetry is distinctly unique. Among them, the poems of Uma Maheswari meticulously record the complexities of contemporary women's lives and their psychological distress. This paper aims to analyze the subjective (internal) struggles of women and the depiction of the external world as manifested in Uma Maheswari's poetry.The study explores how Uma Maheswari textualizes women's subjective struggles, such as loneliness, yearning, loss of identity within the familial structure, and forced silence....
