Abstract

The term Tattuvam (Philosophy) means "the essential nature of a thing." The demonstrative word 'Athu' ("that") denotes different meanings in different religious traditions. Therefore, philosophy is understood as a branch of knowledge that investigates the nature of reality and establishes truth by examining the intrinsic characteristics of existence. In Tamil literary tradition, terms such as Meypporul (Ultimate Reality) and Samaya Kanakku (Religious Doctrine) are also used as equivalents of philosophy....
