Abstract

The art of manufacturing terracotta is a fascinating form of hand-crafted craftsmanship practiced by ancient societies across the world. In India, this art emerged during the prehistoric period and continued to develop through the Early Historic and Late Medieval periods. Terracotta manufacture remains a living tradition, and its continuity can be clearly observed through the archaeological evidence revealed by excavations in the Pandya region during the Early Historic period.
