Abstract

In the Kuruntokai, an Akam (interior/romantic) literature text, this article explores how the names of historical kings were employed as metaphors to illustrate the romantic emotions of the hero and heroine. By analyzing these references, the study unearths the political, social, and economic realities of the Sangam era, ultimately demonstrating that “Akam” (the internal world) and “Puram” (the external world) are not distinct entities but are intrinsically interconnected.
