Abstract

Siddha medicine, considered one of the oldest medical systems in the world, has its roots in Tamil literature. In ancient Tamil life, medicine was not just seen as a means of curing diseases, but as a way of life in harmony with nature. Medicinal knowledge on physical and mental health, based on the premise that a disease-free life is a perfect wealth, is widely found in ancient Tamil texts. Tamil grammatical literature considers the body as a temple, emphasizes keeping it disease-free, and emphasizes following a natural lifestyle.
Keywords: Siddha medicine, oldest medical systems, Tamil literature, Medicinal knowledge, natural lifestyle.
