Tholpavai Koothu (Leather Shadow Puppetry) is one of the most significant traditional performing arts of Tamil Nadu, integrating storytelling, music, voice modulation, puppet manipulation, and shadow performance. Although it is widely regarded as a declining folk art in the contemporary period, dedicated artists continue to preserve and promote this unique cultural heritage.
