Abstract

The History of Tamil literature is classified into the sangam period, the sangam era, the kapiya period, the Bhakti literary period and the medieval literary period. It is said the the twin kapiyas, Silappathikaram and Manimekalai, were composed during the period considered by literary scholars to be the Samgam era. In the Silappathikaram, which is praised as the citizen’ kapiyam, Kovalan kannagi, Along with Madhavi’s life. The Chaturkalas of Madhavi and the fact that Kovalan’s life was connected to Madhavi through Madhavi’s dance can be understood through Silappathikaram. This research article aims to investigate Madhavi’s Chaturkalas from a scientific perspective.
